Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Dockset is made by Vznaries AS. Privacy questions can be sent to benja@vznaries.com.

2. What stays on your Mac

Dockset stores your Dock profiles, app choices, widget settings, and notes locally on your Mac. The app has no Dockset account, Dockset cloud sync, or app analytics. We do not receive your Dock layouts or widget contents.

Calendar and Reminders widgets use the data available on your Mac through macOS, with your permission. Timers, hydration reminders, system information, and other local widgets run on your Mac. Your calendar, reminder, and other service accounts may have their own syncing arrangements; Dockset does not operate that sync.

Optional features may request macOS permissions: Calendar and Reminders access for those widgets, Automation access to control music apps, Accessibility access for app badges, notifications for reminders, and Screen Recording access for smooth macOS Dock switching. Smooth switching temporarily holds an image of your wallpaper on your Mac; it is not uploaded to us. You can review or revoke permissions in System Settings.

Connected widgets

Local processing does not mean every widget works offline. When you use a connected feature, your Mac communicates directly with the relevant service, not through Dockset’s servers:

• Stripe and Paddle: your Mac uses the API key you provide to request account metrics. Keys are stored in macOS Keychain; account names and widget settings are stored locally. We do not receive those keys or metrics.
• Weather: your Mac sends the selected place’s coordinates to MET Norway to retrieve a forecast.
• Now Playing: Dockset reads playback information and controls supported music apps locally. It may download artwork from the artwork URL supplied by the music app.

These services receive the requests needed to provide the feature, including normal connection information such as your IP address, under their own privacy policies. You can remove connected accounts in Dockset and revoke API keys with the relevant provider. App downloads, updates, purchases, and license checks also require network connections, as described below.

3. Information we process

• Website data: standard request and security data such as IP address, browser, requested page, and time of access.
• Purchase data: order, contact, product, license, country, and refund information made available by Paddle. We do not receive your full card details.
• License data: a one-way hash of your license key, its update eligibility, and a hashed random installation identifier are stored to validate licenses and enforce the device limit. The installation identifier is generated by Dockset; we do not collect hardware identifiers or Mac names.
• Support data: your email address and anything you include when you contact us.

4. Why we use it

We process information to deliver your purchase, validate licenses, provide support, issue refunds, secure the website, prevent abuse, and meet legal and accounting obligations. The legal bases are performance of our contract, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and protecting Dockset.

5. Service providers

Cloudflare hosts and protects the website, license service, and app downloads. Paddle is the Merchant of Record and handles checkout, payments, tax, receipts, and refunds. Resend delivers purchase emails. Their own policies explain their processing in more detail: Cloudflare Privacy Policy and Paddle Privacy Notice and Resend Privacy Policy. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect legal rights.

6. International transfers

Cloudflare, Paddle, and Resend may process information outside Norway or the EEA. Where required, transfers are protected by recognised legal safeguards described in their policies and agreements.

7. How long we keep it

Purchase and accounting records are kept for as long as applicable law requires. License records are kept while the license remains valid and as needed to prevent abuse. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve the request and maintain reasonable business records. Website security logs follow Cloudflare’s configured retention periods.

8. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive your personal information, or object to certain processing. Contact us to make a request. You may also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority or your local supervisory authority.

9. Cookies and automated decisions

Dockset does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The license service automatically validates licenses and enforces device limits. We do not use personal information for profiling or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. Our service providers may use strictly necessary cookies to secure their services and complete checkout.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when Dockset or its providers change. The latest version will always be posted here with its effective date.
