Dock appearance

Choose your Dock’s material, glass style, size, and position.

Choose a material

Open Dockset’s Settings and find the Custom Dock appearance controls. Choose Liquid Glass as the material and Clear as the glass style for a transparent Dock. Liquid Glass requires macOS 26 or later. Frosted uses a softer, blurred background.

Why isn’t my Dock transparent?

First, check that both Liquid Glass and Clear are selected. If the Dock still looks solid, open System Settings → Accessibility → Display.

  • Reduce transparency: when enabled, Dockset uses a solid background even with Clear selected. Turn it off if you want transparency.
  • Increase contrast: can also change the appearance of Liquid Glass. Check this setting if your Dock looks different from another Mac.

Dockset follows these accessibility preferences. You can leave them enabled if they make your Mac easier to use. Apple explains the display accessibility settings.

Size and placement

In Settings, choose the Custom Dock’s Position and Display. Drag its resize handle to change its size. Keep enough room for the widgets you use most; larger widgets need more space.

Auto-hide and desktop placement

In the Custom Dock settings, enable Automatically hide to reveal the Dock when your pointer reaches its screen edge. Show handle when hidden adds a small visible handle; the edge still reveals the Dock with the handle off.

With auto-hide off, expanded app windows leave room for the Dock when Dockset has Accessibility access. Use the Allow… button in Settings if access is missing.

Enable Use as desktop widget to keep the Dock on your desktop behind app windows. When using the ordinary Dock placement alongside Apple’s Dock, Hide when macOS Dock appears temporarily hides the Custom Dock if both share an edge.

Running apps, Trash, and badges

Use Show running apps to include open apps alongside pinned items, and Show Trash to keep Trash in the Dock.

Show app badges mirrors the badges displayed by Apple’s Dock. It requires Accessibility access. Dockset reads badge labels, not notification messages.
