Connect Stripe

Before you start

You need access to create restricted API keys in the Stripe account you want to connect. In Dockset, add Stripe from Add Widget → Business, then open the widget.

Create a restricted key

1. Open Stripe’s API keys page. Choose live mode for real activity, or a sandbox for test data.
2. Choose Create restricted key and name it Dockset. Start with no permissions.
3. Set the permissions below. Leave other resources and connected-account permissions at None.
4. Create the key and complete Stripe’s verification. Copy it while it is visible.

No Write permissions are needed. See Stripe’s restricted key instructions for the current dashboard steps.

Connect in Dockset

1. Give the account a name and choose its color in the Stripe widget.
2. Paste the key into Restricted API key. It starts with rk_live_ or rk_test_. Choose Connect.
3. Select the account, metric, currency, and period you want to display. Each widget can show a different view.

What the numbers mean

• Revenue: payment activity booked to the Stripe balance, less refunds and payment reversals, before fees. Includes collected tax; excludes payouts, transfers, and disputes.
• Net after fees: the same payment activity after its transaction fees. This is not profit or your Stripe balance.
• MRR and ARR: estimated recurring revenue from active and past-due fixed subscriptions, with ARR equal to MRR × 12. Trials and metered usage are excluded.
• Paying subscribers and ARPU: customers with positive MRR in the selected currency, and MRR divided by that customer count.

Currencies stay separate. Revenue uses this Mac’s time zone. Subscription chart history starts when you connect Dockset; earlier history is not backfilled. Some complex pricing or tax arrangements cannot be calculated reliably and show an explanation instead of an estimated total.

If something looks wrong

• Permission error: check both Read permissions above. In Stripe, open the key’s request logs to see which request was denied, then edit the key and reconnect.
• No real payments: check that the key is live, the right account and currency are selected, and the period includes the payment.
• Different from the dashboard: compare the same currency, date range, time zone, and metric definition. Stripe’s configurable subscription metrics may differ.
• Old data: open the widget and use Refresh. It also refreshes every five minutes while active. A connection failure can leave the last successful values visible.

Disconnect an account

Disconnect in the widget to remove its local credentials. Keys are stored in macOS Keychain and are not included in Dock profile exports. Revoke the key in Stripe if you want to invalidate it there too. Never include it in a support message.
