Connect your music apps

1. Add Now Playing from the widget library and open it.
2. Open its source settings, enable Spotify, Apple Music, or both, then click Connect beside each app.
3. Allow Dockset to control the app when macOS asks, then play something in that app.

The music app must be installed on this Mac. Dockset follows playback from your enabled sources automatically.

Choose the layout and controls

Right-click the widget and choose Configure widget…. Under Dock layout, choose Mini or Full.

Choose whether to show previous and next track buttons, skip backward, or skip forward. Set the skip interval to 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds. Play and pause are always available.

Turn on Hide when music apps are closed to reclaim the widget’s space when all enabled music apps quit. It reappears when one opens and stays visible while paused. This is off by default; hidden widgets remain available in the dock editor.

If playback is missing

Check that the source is enabled and connected, then start playback in Spotify or Apple Music. If control was denied, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation and allow Dockset to control that app. Return to the widget and connect again.

This widget controls the installed Spotify and Apple Music apps. Playback in a browser tab is not a supported source.
